The Via dell’Amore reopens on July 26, 2024; from that date it will be possible to travel along it for both locals and tourists.
The Via dell’Amore is the road on the rock overlooking the sea, it is easily practicable because it is flat, and connects the towns of Manarola and Riomaggiore in the Cinque Terre.
It has been closed since 24 September 2012 due to a landslide that injured two Australian tourists; the safety works began in 2022 and cost a total of 16 million and 400 thousand euros.
They affected the rocky cliff above the road and below the road; important works were also carried out at sea with the creation of a protective reef.
During the works, monitoring systems were positioned in the rocks above the road to signal an alert in case of danger.
The entrances to the road are close to the Manarola and Riomaggiore stations; the length is approximately 900 meters and access is subject to a fee.
To access you need to buy the special Cinque Terre National Park Card.
